Random Life Update Vol. 1

Happy New Years (a month late) and welcome to my first life update of the New Year. To say that my life has been INSANE since coming back to UVA would be an understatement; I feel as if I went from 0 (a very lazy and much-needed break at home) to 100 (clubs, sorority recruitment, a million assignments, etc) in an instant. That being said, here is what I have been up to...
Half Marathon Training!
I signed up for the Charlottesville half-marathon on April 5th. Since beginning my training, I have realized that most days, running is all mental. I have learned to slow down and pace myself to cover longer distances- notice the greater life metaphor here- and I have ran "easy run" distances that, just a few months ago, were "long runs." I am proud of myself for remaining consistent. For the longest time, I thought I would never be able to run a half marathon... so I am doing it! Also, if I tell everyone I know that I am doing it, I will be even more motivated by the embarrassment of not doing it, and therefore will train harder.
Sorority
Rush was genuinely the worst process ever... but I made it through and I love my sorority! It's very cliche, but you end up where you are supposed to, and I have made amazing new friendships in the past few weeks. As for most of the girls in my sorority, I didn't know them until rushing, and I am so excited to have the exposure to so many other girls who share similar values and want to make new connections. Last week was packed with social events and I feel like I have not had a "chill" day since break, but that is definitely for the best. This semester is already so much more fun than last, and I am trying my best to keep myself busy and to be involved in things that excite me.
Writing
I told myself I was going to be consistent with this- but life gets in the way and things get busy. The whole point of this blog was to be authentic and to share the things I learn- whether in my classes or in the new experience of college far from home- and to use it as reflection for myself and hopefully for others. On that note, I am learning so much, and trying to document it for keepsake, even when it all flies by.
This is simply scratching the surface of everything I have been up to- wishing everyone a happy and healthy 2025.
